INVITATION FOR BIDS

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the TOWNSHIP OF MAPLEWOOD in the County of ESSEX, New Jersey for the MAPLE TERRACE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS.  The project consists OF REPLACEMENT OF STRUCTURALLY DEFICIENT WATERCOURSE PIPES AND RETAINING WALLS WITH NEW REINFORCED CONCRETE/HIGH DENSITY polyethylene CIRCULAR AND RECTANGULAR DRAINAGE PIPES AND A THREE-SIDED CONCRETE CHANNEL WITH DECORATIVE FORMLINER; INSTALLATION OF DRAINAGE STRUCTURES (CONCRETE HEADWALL AND INLETS), RENO MATTRESSES, AND SAFETY/DEBRIS RACKS; AND RESTORATION OF OTHER MISCELLANEOUS SITE FEATURES THAT MAY BE IMPACTED TO FACILITATE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS BUT NOT LIMITED TO DRIVEWAYS, SIDEWALKS, CURB, AND FENCING/GATES.

Contract documents may be accessed by emailing Paul J. Kittner, Township Engineer and Director of Public Works, at pkittner@maplewoodnj.gov at no charge.  Prospective bidders will be required to provide their name, address, telephone number, fax number and email address to be used if addenda are required.

Bids will be received at the office of the Township Engineer at 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040 until:

A mandatory pre-bid site meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., beginning at the project site on 13 Maple Terrace, Maplewood, New Jersey 07040. Bids will not be accepted from Bidders that do not attend the mandatory pre-bid site meeting.

Bids will be made on standard proposal forms in the manner designated therein as required by the specifications, must be enclosed in envelopes (outer and inner), both of which shall be sealed and clearly labeled with the words CONTRACT BID DOCUMENTS, name of project, name and address of Bidder and date and time of bid opening, and addressed to Township Engineer at 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040.

Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 17:27

All Bidders must submit to the Township a Business Registration Certificate issued by the New Jersey Division of Revenue, PL 2004 c.57 (N.J.S.A. 52:32-44) and N.J.S.A. 40A:11-23.2, with their Bid.

Simultaneously with the submission of bids, the corporation or partnership so bidding will furnish a statement setting forth the names and addresses of all stockholders in the corporation or partnership who own ten percent (10%) or greater therein pursuant to Chapter 33, P.L. 1977.  Bids will be REJECTED if they do not contain this disclosure statement.

Bidders are notified that they must pay workmen the prevailing wage rate as determined by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Industry for the project, pursuant to the "New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act" - Chapter 150 of the Laws of 1963.

If awarded a contract, your company/firm shall be required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 17:27.

The right is hereby reserved to reject any and all bids or any part thereof or to waive any minor informalities or irregular­ities and to accept any bid or bids if deemed in the best interest of the Township of Maplewood to do so.
