The City of McPherson is seeking qualified consulting firms for pre-construction engineering and project management in the category equivalent to the Kansas Department of Transportation’s (KDOT) Work Category: Work Category: 441 – Pedestrian and Bicycle Facility Design and Work Category: 241 – Construction Inspection and Testing for the project listed below.
Interested consulting firms must be pre-qualified by KDOT in category 411-Pedestrian and Bicycle Facility Design, and familiar with the project area.
Description
The project will construct .3 miles of 10' wide concrete multi-use trail, along with .7 miles of 5' wide sidewalk. The trail will start at the terminus of the Northview Rd. Trail Phase II project at Veranda Circle East, extending east along the north side of Northview Rd. until Maxwell Street. From there, the trail will transition to a 5' sidewalk as it turns south to cross Northview Road. The crosswalk will be equipped with rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB), signage, and crosswalk striping. The sidewalk will continue south along the west side of Maxwell St. The trail will conclude at the intersection of Darlow Dr., connecting to the existing sidewalk network. A sidewalk will also be included for 175' along the south side of Hulse St. to connect the new sidewalk to the existing sidewalk system along this street.
Schedule and Deadlines
Technical proposals are due on or before3:00 pm on Thursday October 8th, 2026, to be delivered by email to Eric Duerksen at ericd@mcpcity.com and cc’ Kim Isbell at kimi@mcpcity.com . Interested consulting firms must be pre-qualified by KDOT in the work categories noted above.
Anticipated Schedule for Subsequent Events:
Evaluation and ranking of technical proposals shall take place on or about October 15th 2026 after which all firms that submitted letters of interest will be notified of the ranking. Negotiations with the highest ranked firm to commence on or about October 15th 2026. Notice to Proceed to be issued November 5th, 2026, KDOT Three-Party agreement in place and in eAect December 15th, 2026.
