The City of Amesbury is soliciting bids for surplus vehicles and equipment. A description of each surplus item may be found below. Bids must be submitted by mail or in-person delivery only to the Office of Administration and Finance, 1 Market Street, Office 215, Amesbury, MA 01913 by no later than 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Bids submitted by email, fax, or any other method will not be accepted. Late bids will not be accepted regardless of the reason for lateness. Bidders assume the risk of delays in the mail or in the handling of the mail by city employees.
Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes with the bidder name and address written on the outside of the envelope. Envelopes should be marked with the make and year of the vehicle that the bid is for (e.g. Ford 2015). Bidders who are interested in bidding on more than one item should submit a separate bid envelope for each item. Bids must contain a dollar value in both numbers and words, a contact name, an email address, and a signature. Bidders may use any format they like. The highest bidder for each surplus item will win the bid.

Once a winning bid is accepted, removal of the vehicle or equipment is the sole responsibility of the buyer. There will be no assistance provided by city staff. Removal must occur on a weekday between 8am and 3pm and must be scheduled at least two business days in advance. At the time of removal, the successful bidder will exchange payment, in the form of a cashiers check, for the vehicle, key, and related paperwork. All vehicles and equipment must be removed within 30 days of the bid opening.
1990 John Deere 710C 8,721 work hours
Machine is equipped with a flat front bucket and rear digging bucket. It does not have auxiliary hydraulics or quick couplers on the front loader or back bucket. Machine does run but has unknown amount of fuel, engine oil, or hydraulic oil. Batteries are dead and front right tire is flat. Cab has lots of rust and rot on floor, sides, and structural cab components. Machine will run with a jump start. Machine must be towed away.
2000 John Deere 410E 13,289 work hours
Machine is equipped with a 4 in 1 front bucket, extendable rear boom, and 18 inch rear digging bucket. The machine also comes with a 10 foot power angle front plow and a set of pallet forks. The machine has front auxiliary hydraulics but no rear auxiliary hydraulics. It does not have front or rear quick couplers. The machine has unknown amount of fuel, motor oil, or hydraulic oil. All tires appear to have air in them. Machine has dead batteries but will run with a jump start. Machine must be towed away. Be advised the hour meter was replaced at 8,500 hours and the current hour meter shows 4,789 hours for a total of 13,289 work hours.

The vehicle has a v8 engine and 11 passenger or 7 seats and 2 wheelchair capacity. The vehicle contains a hydraulic wheelchair lift. The machine has an unknown amount of fuel and motor oil. Vehicle must be towed away. Vehicle comes with two keys.
Bidders are responsible for verifying all conditions. The City of Amesbury makes no guarantees about the current and future condition of surplus vehicles and equipment. All surplus vehicles and equipment will be disposed of in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. Ch 30B § 15 and as determined by the Mayor to be in the best interest of the City. The City may reject any and all bids, cancel the invitation for bids, waive any minor informalities, or take whatever action is determined to be in the best interest of the City. Conditional bids will not be accepted.
