OIC proposed to DoD a novel/unique method to cold work fastener holes in high-strength aircraft materials that rupture when subjected to current cold working methods. The new method will use existing automotive industry technology.

A custom machine will be designed/fabricated to fatigue test specimens cold worked via existing methods versus specimens cold worked via new method. A statistical lifecycle test will determine if a significant difference exists between the methods.
