The U.S. Army Contracting Command-New Jersey (ACC-NJ) on behalf of The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Armaments Center, intends to issue a Firm Fixed Price, sole source contract, to Rapidia Tech Inc. There is only one capable source of providing this brand name Metal Paste Deposition (MPD) system consisting of MPD 3D printer component, sintering furnace component, slicing/sintering software, facilities integration hardware/supplies (ventilation, power connection), starter kit with necessary tools for operation/post-processing, and initial material feedstocks to include 17-4 PH, 316L. As such, Rapidia is selected since their system has expeditionary applications due to its ability to quickly print metal paste and go straight to sintering. The decreased turnaround times from the lack of a de-binding step accelerates the turnaround time for metal parts fabrication and Rapidia’s use of a partial pressure vacuum drastically reduces consumption of process gases.
